Steve McKee

Director - Business Operations

"Investing in renewable energy isn't just about sustainability; it's about securing a brighter, cleaner future for generations to come. Let's power progress responsibly."

Steve was raised a country lad and moved to Melbourne in 1997 to pursue university studies and a promising career in AFL football. A big man at 2 metres tall, Steve played in the ruck for 8 seasons at Richmond and Collingwood. His crowning achievement was selection as lead ruckman for Collingwood in the 2002 AFL Grand Final in front of 92,000 spectators. At the same time, Steve worked hard academically to complete a Bachelor of Business in Accounting, and then earned his CPA qualification in 2004.

A career at major accounting firm KPMG ensued where Steve was promoted through the ranks using his valuable business skills to great effect for his many clients. However, after 16 years at KPMG, Steve was looking for a new challenge. Coming from north-east Victoria, Steve was always interested in the environment and sustainability, so it was an easy ‘yes’ decision when Clint asked him to join CBR in 2021.

Steve has now found a role close to his heart where his operational knowledge maintaining CBR’s business side is combined with his passion for helping customers contribute to Australia's renewable energy rollout.
